The film A Virxe Roxa, winner of the Mestre Mateo Award for Best Documentary, tells the story of an event that shocked Spanish society in the 1930s, starring Aurora Rodríguez and her daughter Hildegart, a young woman who at the age of 18 became one of the most prominent feminists of the Second Spanish Republic, but who would go down in history for being murdered by her mother.The documentary, directed by Marcos Nine, has Amalia Mato and Chema Gagino, responsible for the original idea, in the executive production. In addition to winning the award for Best Documentary, it was also a finalist in the Best Editing category and won awards at international festivals such as DOCA and Blackboard.
The Mestre Mateo Film Series is an initiative of the Galician Audiovisual Academy and the Provincial Council, which brings to the town council of Forcarei the winning and finalist films of the Mestre Mateo Awards in the categories of feature films and documentaries.
